IMS - About Us
Independent Music Solutions (IMS), founded in September 2011, is an independent, educational partnership of private music teachers offering a range of services to schools in the UK.
We believe that all children should be given the opportunity to receive an excellent school-based music education at an affordable price. Learning an instrument gives children a skill for life, develops confidence and self-esteem and enhances cognitive development.
Our qualified, full insured, DBS checked staff offer individual and shared lessons on a wide range of musical instruments.
IMS offers a range of contracts to schools from a minimum of one teacher for one hour a week, through to whole school music provision across the spectrum of services.
We can operate from between 30 - 39 weeks a year to best suit your school timetable and curriculum. We believe that flexibility is the key - our contracts can be amended on a term by term basis.
Our services do not vary across geographical boundaries. We offer the same opportunities to all pupils at all schools.

James studied Music and Drama at Warwick University and subsequently taught for nine years at schools in Coventry and Warwickshire. In 1999 James launched the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools in Edgbaston and Bromsgrove and currently these centers provide dance, drama and singing lessons for 200 students each week. As a Musical Director James has conducted many musicals across the Midlands. James set up IMS in 2011 and is thrilled to see the partnership develop and grow each year.

Simon Belcher, Regional Managing Partner

Simon has been playing drums since the age of 10 and now enjoys a career as both a teacher and performer. He has played in brass bands, orchestras, dance bands and function bands but now spends most of his time playing drums and percussion for many different shows, musicals and pantomimes in shows all over the country.
